Our choir and dance groups recently won at the district level and earned the chance to advance to the next level of competition. On Monday, they won first place in two categories at the county level! The kids won first place in the Marakwet Folk Song competition and first place in the Marakwet Dance Competition. We are so proud of our talented kids!
The next step is the regional competition in Kitale. There is much excitement for sure!

The testing of the bore hole for the new well began, and water poured out like this for 24 hours! There is such excitement all around for fresh, clean water! God is so good!

Happy Heritage Academy children! The well (borehole) drillers arrived today. Soon we will have a very deep well that will provide good, clean water for our women and children. God is good!! We are blessed people around here.

Sunday was not just a wonderful day for mothers, but also wonderful day for our children as well! We recently formed a partnership with Worldreader to provide the opportunity for our older kids to have access to eReaders that will hold more books than we could ever ship to the village. In order to get the eReaders, we first had to raise funds to pay for them. We want to give a huge thank you to the Cheers Sunday School class at Church at the Crossing who presented Margaret with a check to help fund this new program and get it well under way!

We recently had our first international (outside the US) sponsor and we're thrilled at how many have stepped forward to give hope and use their love to change lives. However, we still have plenty of children waiting outside the gate to get in. We're looking forward to seeing the ladies at Church at the Crossing Women's Candlelight Dinner this evening! We'll have beads and bags made by our women available at our table. It's our third year participating and it's an event we always enjoy!

School supplies are a precious commodity. Our kids hold onto what they are given until there is simply nothing left, as this tiny pencil can testify!

We recently had a visitor to the village who brought a gift of medicines from her local hospital. It was a wonderful gift for the village! We are looking forward to the medical missions teams that will be coming this summer to provide even more care for people in our clinic!

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

When families are unable to pay school fees with shillings, we welcome payments of other kinds: volunteered time, bags of rice, or firewood. One of the parents recently brought in this firewood for the school. Instead of using the logs for firewood, Davis had it cut into timber for the new classrooms. The parents are giving what little they have to build up this community, and in this case, literally!
